Today’s Kansas City municipal election is moving along on according to plan . . .
Just a couple of insights so far . . .
– Morning turnout was predictably abysmal and polling places are mostly abandoned throughout Midtown.
– Really odd that there’s not a lot of electioneering and campaign workers handing out ballots for this vote. The lack of a ground game doesn’t bode well for supporters of today’s questions.
Best of all . . . Here’s a bittersweet afternoon snack from our blog community . . .
CHECK THE HUGE PORTION OF KANSAS CITY TAXES SERVED TO DOWNTOWN CAFETERIA PATRONS ALONG WITH OUR BLOG COMMUNITY SPITTING OUT SOME WELL DONE CRITICISM!!!
TKC READER: “Righteous God, look at the taxes downtown now! Going to vote Hell no on every damned issue out of spite today. Greedy city hall swine … Provide some damned services.”
Read it and weep . . . Dining downtown is quickly becoming out of reach for locals given the feeding frenzy of local taxes that only getting worse.
Again, all of this might not seem like a lot but it’s a huge bite for anybody on a budget.
This kind of frustration may or may not drive more voters to the ballot box this evening. Polls close at 7:00 PM.
